[linrad] swap

Hi all,

Linrad does not need much memory for normal operation but it
is very easy to make little mistakes that cause a lot of memory to
become allocated. If more memory than available is allocated,
Linux happily starts using the swap file which will make
Linrad run extremely slowly.

One possible solution is to turn off the swap completely, but it
would be better to allow the swap for any other program that
might be running besides Linrad.

Is there anyone on this list who knows if there is a way to
tell the kernel that Linrad may not be swapped out? It would be
much better with an out-of-memory message when malloc tries to
allocate too large buffers.
