Hello, Rein and All.

Yes this is an excellent idea.  I have been following this mailing list for
about three weeks and it has been most helpful. I am testing Linrad on an
old P166 system before taking the plunge and upgrading. I am now ready to
replace the hardware and I really want to know which components have been
found to work well, before I spend the money.

I am still trying to get ALSA working.  No success yet, but it ought to work
so I'll keep plugging away.  It would be really helpful to know who has been
successful using it.

I am also experiencing some trouble getting my old video card running well.
It is an older ATI Rage II+ design and tends to misbehave on anything other
than the VGA setting.  SVGALIB does not seem to support nearly as many video
cards as X11.  Again it would be really useful to know which of the newer
video cards to select for a new system.

So, yes it is a great idea to create a database.  To be really useful, those
uploading should include plenty of notes and configuration information.
