RE: [linrad] svgalib problems (fwd)

Hi John I think that I have pretty much exhausted that possibility, I have
tried auto detection, forcing the chipset and even tried the VESA driver. I
have tried svgalib-1.4.3 and everything else up to svgalib-1.9.17. It seems
that the svgalib mail listing tells of many such problem. The solution is
for me to get a card that actually works! I have spent 5 days on it now, I
know when I beat :-)

Hi Conrad,

I was able to solve most of my SVGA (went from crashing to
working) problems by tweaking:

   /etc/vga/libvga.config

   Hope this helps :)

Subject: [linrad] svgalib problems

I am having problems with svgalib on both of these latest machines Machine 1
(Athlon 850) has an ATI Rage 128 (32Mb)and runs quite happily in Windows at
1024 x 768 @ 100 Hz. When I run Linrad I get the S screen ok, I can select
my mouse acceleration ok but when I select Mode 12 for the screen (1024 x
768) the machine immediately crashes. Machine 2 which is a P3-450 and has a
ATI Rage Mach 64 chip (8mb), this is an onboard video and I did anticipate
some problems. I can get to the initial screen which has white horizontal
bands across it. I can also go into mode A which works but still has these
bands across it, I also cannot toggle the oscilloscope on/off (and I DO know
how to do this hi). If anyone has successfully used either of these cards
then I would like to know what you did to configure them to run with svgalib
correctly. One other strange thing with machine is that when I try mode S or
T the machine crashes.

Any ideas?
