[linrad] Re: Winrad V0.90

Paul

I have a rough mockup using SBL-1s, but I am building a Tayloe front end for a QRP rig. I could use that - it uses the data multiplexers which seem to be all the rage - FST3253 HF bands seem to be pretty dead here - we are at least 3000km from any civilization in Western Australia. There is a lot of SE asian activity, but I suspect a lot of it is illegal as they dont conform to band plans. Occasional activity from eastern states but it is sporadic.
Probably 14MHz would be the best bet

Hi Richard, the software is very good, can you give me details of the front end you were thinking of using please.

Cool!

Had it going on wav files in about 1 min
Easy interface for various options
I will have to rig up a front end again
BTW could any of the code on your site be used for decoding CW in a small embedded system? I was thinking of a low power portable rig with the code output to an LCD display .

I have always admired Linrad for its functions, implemented with a solid theoretical background behind them. However I have never been able to install and run it in a smooth way, due to its requirement of running under Linux, with a specific graphics library. So I took the decision to write a program that would run under Windows, with not all, but the fundamental functions of Linrad. Logically I named it Winrad.

I am now offering it to you all to download and test on your PCs. Please read the User Guide before using it, it will be time well spent. And please give me feedbacks, both positive and negative, thanks. Keep in mind that this is just a first release. Others will follow, maybe with new functions, if there will be interest.

Winrad can be found here http://www.weaksignals.com
